A 15-minute cable car from Oriental Village up Gunung Mat Cincang to a 708 m top station, then a curved 125 m Sky Bridge hung from a single pylon 660 m above the sea, with the Andaman islands and southern Thailand laid out below. It is Langkawi's one must-do and everyone knows it, so the queue and the afternoon cloud are the enemies. Go for the first gondola on a clear morning, never on a Wednesday, and buy the Sky Bridge add-on at the station.

  • Wear shoes with grip and carry a light layer: the summit is windier and cooler, and the walkways are metal grating
